Village Roof Top Lounge and Dining

The Village Rooftop Lounge and Dining has achieved a cult status among college students. A few years ago when all the sheesha places had to shut shop, this was one of the few places where you could get your fix of sheesha.
Located on the top floor of Brahma Majestic on the NIBM Road, this place has a wonderful feel to it. They've redone this place and it looks appealing after the face-lift.
Finding a table is difficult, calling and reserving yourself a table is highly recommended, especially on weekends.
The sheesha here is really good and there's a wide range of flavours to choose from. We settled in at a bar side table and ordered for the sheesha right away while browsing through the food and bar menu. To satiate our alcohol buds, we ordered for a 3 litre tower of King's beer. The beer, a legend from Goa, is really good. It is on the sweeter side so I didn't enjoy it much, but it doesn't fall short when it comes to the alcohol potency.
Ordering food was a tough task as they have a lot to offer. After deliberating for a while, we ordered for a Chicken Platter. The Platter looked extremely delicious and had a pretty wide range of hue when it came to colour. The waiter served it before I could get a photo of the full plate, but I managed to click this photo after I was served. The Chicken Platter is a delight for a person who is avoiding carbs. Packs in a good 30-35g or protein per serving and fat and carbs not more than 10g.

While the Platter helped us get some food in our tummies to absorb the liquor, we decided to infuse some heavy carbs by ordering a plate of French Fries. Now I don't need to say much about this, there's no scope for one to go wrong with French Fries. They were golden, crispy with just the right amount of salt.
Being a fan of Cheese Garlic Naan, I order it every time I see it on a menu card wherever I go and so we ordered two of those. They looked delicious and the chef generously put loads of butter on it making it glisten under the lights. The perfect balance of Cheese and Garlic meant that the bread sat well on our tongues. The butter and cheese did make it a little saltier, but that would have been balanced out if had with a curry.
Still hungry, we decided to go for a Chicken Dum Biryani. And boy, it was worth it! It definitely is one of the best biryanis I have had in Pune in recent times.
Being a Sunday night, I wouldn't crib about the slow service. I could see the waiters struggling to get orders to the tables quickly. And all the food that arrived at our table was hot.
All of this amounted to a rather paltry 3000 bucks among 5 people.
The only tiny blot on the experience was the incessant oggling the girls in our group faced. The crowd wasn't really sophisticated either, with groups of men abusing each other pretty obnoxiously.
If you want to hang out with your guy friends with a sheesha, cheap food and drinks, this is the place for you!

The Breakfast Cafe

The Breakfast Cafe, located in Bavdhan, is one of my favourite places to hangout. You will find me hogging on the Chicken Shawarma Plate almost every other weekend and finishing it off with a black coffee.
The Chicken Shawarma Plate is amazing;arguably one of the best in Pune. It comes with a good amount of chicken, tomatoes and onions among other veggies and is topped off with loads of mayonnaise. Not that it's not visually appealing, but French fries bordering the food just adds more effect! It is served along with pita bread(flat bread that originated in the middle east). Pita bread + chicken Shawarma is a deadly combo and a delight to devour. The chicken Shawarma plate packs in a good 50g of protein, 20-25g of fat and 60g of carbohydrates. The pita bread contributes to the carbs, so if some one is off carbs, I'd recommend avoiding that.

The Grilled Chicken Omelette is another favourite of mine. It is packed with loads of chicken grilled to perfection stuffed in an omelette of 2 eggs and cheese oozing out of it. It sits well on your tongue and the spices add a nice flavour to it. It is served with 2 slices of bread(you can choose between regular bread or brown bread). For those avoiding carbs, and looking for a good post workout meal, this Grilled Chicken Omelette(without the bread) is the perfect solution. It will help you gain about 35-40g of protein and 10-15g of fat and just about 5g of carbs.
Having been a regular for almost a year now, I have tried almost everything on their menu. Special mention to Anda Bhurji, Chicken Anda Bhurji, TBC Special Chicken Burger with coleslaw and potato chips, Kheema Pav, Pancakes, Honey glazed French Toast and last but not the least, the Black Coffee!
